Greetings fellow artists.
I finally discovered what the MGM logo stood for and its message struck me – especially given the current path that I’m on.
Art for Art’s Sake. It’s so freeing. It means you can create art just because, while also still honoring its value.
I’ve truly come to understand how important art is. Creating something of yours, something from your soul is divine. It’s connectivity. It’s connecting to the world, connecting to a person, connecting to yourself. Art helps you feel alive.
I feel that as human beings it’s important for us to feel alive, not just live. This is why senses are so material to our existence. We use them to react to the world around us and reaffirm that we’re alive. Breathing in a strong cup of coffee in the morning grounds you. Listening to a friend heals you. Our senses help us take a break from our mind and connect to something tangible, real. Instead of getting trapped in one’s thoughts, senses remind us we’re here to connect, we’re not alone. You’re alive. I’m alive. We’re all alive, yay!
This is why misfires happen when we lose one or more of them…
It’s so frightening to lose a sense or two or three, etc. It’s not that fruitful and fulfilling lives aren’t possible afterwards with time and grace, but it does hurt, and with reason, to lose a channel to the outside world. We strive to feel alive.
This, this is why art is so important. Art reminds us of how human we are and how much more connected we are than we think. All around the world, we share a love of music, books, movies, art, etc. Why? Because one or more people created something we all reacted to, related to, etc. in the same way.
Your art is so much more important than you think. Especially now. AI has definitely demonstrated there is a human soul, so let yours shine. Let yours fly. Let yours vibe.
Create. Create all my lovely companions. Someone out there needs what you’re making. Create Art for Art’s Sake God damn it! ๐
