Somewhere Down the Line

October 25th, 2026

I think I’m doing a better job at staying off my phone these days. I just spent the better part of my morning writing in my book after a nice walk in somewhat cooler weather. I also decided that I shall clean tomorrow again and not, as I disciplined myself before, today. Besides, the rain is encouraging me to stay still today, and that’s fine by me.

I cut my hair again! Not sure I’ll ever find another cut that suits me like the bob, but I persist pursuing another coif. 🙂

How are things in your world? It seems every day we’re disappointed in someone else, but I suppose it’s okay we had hope in the first place  — sometimes. As this rain continues to fall and pour overhead, all I do is remember, after everything, those cliché words we all know so well: This too shall pass.

I am so happy in the interim, though, that the blue jay(s) and other visitors have included my bird feeder in their world. While I watch my movies, shows, read, write, and apply for jobs, they visit, and for a little while my world isn’t just my own. But shared.

For now, I sit here writing in this blog — while my belly protests for food — pretending everything is working out in my favor and that somewhere down the line — check out the song of the same name below! — I’ll meet people who won’t always disappoint me. 🙂

P.S. The Wicker movie was nice.

  1. Your rainy-day photo and your words feel very familiar today, Nessa. ❤️ It’s raining here in South Africa too, and sometimes a quiet day indoors is exactly what we need. I loved what you said about your feathered visitors making your world feel shared rather than just your own. There’s something special about those little encounters with nature that reminds us there is still so much happening around us, even when life feels a little disappointing.

And yes, this too shall pass. Sometimes we just have to keep going, find the little things that bring us joy, and trust that somewhere down the line, better days and better people will find their way into our lives. 💜

And then there’s your hamster! 😂😂 After all that reflection, I wasn’t prepared for “She is a butthole!” I nearly think we need the full story behind that little musical performance! 🤣🐹

      1. Hahahahahaha, Nessa! 😂😂 You SING to her? Now I’m imagining you serenading this little butthole while she sits there judging your musical talent! 🤣🐹❤️

Now I want to hear that song as well! 🤣🤣🤣

    1. Someone else disappointed me today, by the by lol I asked them who they voted for, but to his credit, I am in the reddest state.

      1. Oh, Nessa, darling. ❤️ Sometimes people disappoint us in ways we didn’t expect, especially when a conversation reveals a difference in how we see the world. I suppose living in the reddest state means you’re bound to encounter some differences of opinion! 😂 But I think it’s particularly disappointing when someone surprises us in a way we weren’t hoping for. Still, we can’t control what other people believe or choose. We can only decide what we do with that information. Sending you a hug, sweetheart. ❤️

      3. It is, unfortunately, isn’t it, Nessa? ❤️ We wish we could reach a point where these things no longer hurt us so deeply. Sometimes, even when we understand things and try to move forward, the feelings take a little longer to catch up. Be gentle with yourself, darling. You don’t have to rush your healing or put a deadline on when something should stop hurting. ❤️🫂
