It’s Easier to Pull the Trigger than Play Guitar

Good morn’ ladies and gents๐Ÿชป๐Ÿ’œ

April 19th, 2026

It is 10:35 AM and I’ve had my morning walk, practiced yoga, and watched Desperado.

I love me some Desperado. It’s Tarantino-esque and appears to have his blessing as he makes a cameo. Not to mention it’s a 90s movie and they have been my comfort zone.

I actually just finished reading like an artist manifesto or something from Amie McNee and it appears that that is what other artists are doing as well. As a matter of fact, the more I read on the more I realized it appears I’m on the right track.

Come to think of it, almost everything I’ve learned and read seems to approve of my journey.

You know, it’s easier to pull the trigger than play guitar. Easier to destroy than to create.

But anyhow, back to Desperado. Today, I discovered how funny and supportive of the arts this movie actually is – and I love that. I love when I watch a movie or a show and I get a fresh perspective or notice something I hadn’t caught before. I still hate watching my faves getting killed, but any movie that can make me laugh  – like when El Mariachi and his enemy continue to find empty guns to shoot at each other – and calls out people who support violence and greed over the arts (insert classic mirror scene) is fine by me.

Sad isn’t it? That it’s easier to destroy and hurt than it is to be strong and create? But I guess all we can do is create something funny out of the abundance of violence and pain, right? *sings* There’s alwaaaays a lessoooon..

But art always thrives! Always fights! Even in a town that is completely corrupt, like the one in the movie. Funny enough, it was those involved in the arts who were actually the relatively “good” characters, even if they were under the influence; i.e.ย like the boy with his guitar and Carolina with her bookstore.

Creation is the most powerful, intimidating gift we have. It invokes fear and violence in people who cannot stand in their truth. Art always shines a light of authenticity and most cannot handle it.

But stand anyway. We might not all have guns concealed behind our art weapon of choice, but if our truth wasn’t scary they wouldn’t be trying to quiet us down.

I don’t mean to turn everything into a lesson it just happens! I just wanted to talk about Desperado :(.

Thanks for letting me share my 80 cents!
