November 1st, 2026
We’re here. It’s November 2026. I just came from a brisk walk and an unfortunate encounter with some Colombian trash sifting pervert. I had unreasonably it seems considered before exiting my car to approach him and ask him if he wanted my old hamster cage, but it appears the Universe was looking out for me because he started rolling away. As I continued walking towards home I could see from my peripherals that he hadn’t left yet β although he had had more than enough time to; given he was literally at the exit. So I pressed forward watching him from my peripherals hoping he’d just scoot on out as I started taking the pathway towards my building and I see him just smiling at me, open-mouthed, reminding me of the movie Smile. Eventually he rolls down his window and I’m thinking he’s going to ask me if I have anything to throw away that he can recycle (since I can’t seem to get rid of the idea of getting rid of the πΉ cage), but to my almost surprise advises/congratulates me for going to the gym and requests that I continue doing so. He also said I was good looking as he was now leaning out his window while driving. I should have left my headphones on.
I normally don’t wear gym pants with my sports bra outside of my house, but damn it, why do I need to change my appearance for men? It’s one of many reasons I don’t do plastic surgery.
Anyways, good save from the Universe and good instincts on my part to decide against approaching as I initially wanted to till he made to leave. I was well behind him and he waited. *shivers* It’s why I carry a Taser and two pepper sprays. But it’s not to say the Universe doesn’t have a sense of humor.
I went to see Wildwood the other day just when I was feeling fed up with men, especially in my hometown β like the kind who either engage or approve of stalking a woman on a highway while masturbating β and the theatre is filled, to my fucking internal guffaw, with men. The last thing I imagined, but merely tickled with, was that an animated film about a young girl would be filled with men. But now that I’m reading it loud…π€’ But it was. It unbelievably was. There was no misadventure except for the guy next to me filling the empty seat next to him with napkins and his staring at his lap throughout the movie. Which again makes me wonder…
But I digress. As far as current events, besides the aforementioned, I finished The Awakening β something that my highschool English teacher would not only be very proud to learn I’ve read again, but that I wanted to and understood it more. I also joined a book club, but for a month. I don’t know. What I suspected about competing on books read came to be true and the dynamic of the group was off β and mostly because of their leader… There were two comments that got me: 1) I’m so proud everyone in this group is so accomplished. (After somebody earned a degree or something.) 2) There’s no one I know I wouldn’t be willing to lose. (Made during the meeting by the leader who has college friends in the group. They were even taken aback.) I’m still proud of myself for trying though! And successfully following through β and even talking!
So ya. I’ve been adventurous. Sort of. I ride bike. I connect with strangers to get things done like eventually trading my typewriter for another because I was fed up. After the original person I connected with fixed it but UPS fucked it, I was left dealing with someone with no social or decision making skills, so I did it all. I met him over at his post at a farmer’s market earlier than he said β because his idea of me, a 5’2 woman walking around Miami Beach from 7 to 11, alone, seemed appropriate. I arrived there with a someone I was able to find as a bodyguard and told him to just trade it if he couldn’t fix it for me now and shipping made no sense to try again. This was also after I had momentarily sat on a bench by bamboo and a rat fell from the sky and landed onto my phone. π But I did it! The mothereffer still made me give him $100 for the trade even though he was getting a $400 Italian antique typewriter, but that’s okay. I now have a working one.
So I feel accomplished. I’m on a flow with my book. I practice yoga. Walk. Ride bike. Have birb friends. Ham daughter. Plant daughter. A business β whether people know it or not lol. I’m even reading again. Which is probably helping me write. I clean my house and it moves with the seasons and so do I.
I just hope this upcoming one is a bit more prosperous.

P.S. Hot take: You are allowed to consume books however you please, but don’t tell me you’ve read 150 books and 100 of them were audio. You didn’t read a book, you listened to it. My 1st grade teacher read to me, but I didn’t later say I read the book. I didn’t watch my mom cook our dinner and then claimed I made it…
